PALM SUNDAY BANQUETS (over 700 attend this event yearly at the various venues)
Santa Anita: Stable Kitchen
Fairplex: Daily Double Cafe (backside kitchen)
Hollywood Park: Trainers Lounge. Music was provided by
The Gutierrez Brothers.
ANNUAL CHRISTMAS BANQUET. We have hosted this banquet at Hollywood Park in mid December for the past 4 years. Food, toys, gifts and musical entertainment is provided to typically 500 backstretch workers in the Hollywood Park Turf Club.
JOCKEYS PICNIC
Santa Anita Infield. This event was hosted in conjunction with the Southern California Jockey Colony, The Jockeys Guild, Santa Anita Park and ourselves. All frontside and backside employees and vendors were invited. BBQ, drinks, music, entertainment, raffles and gifts were provided to over 700 guests.
CTT BACKSTRETCH PICNIC HOLLYWOOD PARK
We have assisted CTT with volunteers at picnics for all Southern California Thoroughbred Racetrack backstretch workers.
DEL MAR
Del Mar Racetrack infield. This is typically our biggest event. On average over 600 people attend and are treated to a Mexican barbecue. Last year musical entertainment was provided by Dennis Agajanian and the Gutierrez Brothers. Many gifts are given away such as hygiene packs, skateboards, soccer balls, microwaves, mini refrigerators, coffeemakers, TV's, a VCR and the grand prize a 32 inch color television. We also had a 7 furlong foot race on the Del Mar Jimmy Durante Turf Course last year. Many thanks to all the volunteers that made the event a huge success and an enjoyable afternoon. We look forward to another event this year.
GOLDEN GATE FIELDS
We held an outreach similiar to the Del Mar backstretch outreach in conjunction with the National Racetrack Chaplaincy Of America and the Northern California Racetrack Chaplaincy Of America on September 26, 2006. This was the first of its kind and hopefully many more to come across the country and world.
In 2005 we hosted several outreaches at racetracks in Southern California. They include Santa Anita, Hollywood Park, Del Mar and Fairplex Park. This year similar schedule of outreaches are scheduled and under way. The next scheduled outreach will be on September 26th at Golden Gate Fields in Northern California.
Our highest attended outreach for 2005 was at Del Mar in which over 700 people were fed and treated to entertainment by internationally known musical artist
The Gutierrez Brothers. Pastor Carlos Ayub head of Spanish ministry at
Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa delivered the message. Additionally backstretch employees took part in raffles for electronics, gifts for women and childrens toys. Everyone walked away with a gift.
